West Virginia head coach Rich Rodriguez confirmed that defensive end Jimmori Robinson’s status remains unresolved. Rodriguez said Robinson has not been practicing as the school continues to work with its general counsel to interpret the NCAA’s ruling. No timeline has been given for when the situation could be resolved.
“Yeah, we’re still waiting on him. We have our general counsel that’s working with the NCAA and the Big 12 and our compliance department to make sure we’re interpreting the judge’s order correctly,” Rodriguez said. “Obviously the order was favorable to those guys being able to play, but we’re still in the middle, they’re still discussing that. But Jimmori has not practiced, but the other three are practicing.”
Robinson, a 6-foot-4, 250-pound transfer, was named Defensive Player of the Year in the American Athletic Conference last season after recording 43 tackles, 17 tackles for loss, and 10.5 sacks. The Virginia native has played in 43 career games and would immediately step into one of the top edge rushing roles for the Mountaineers once cleared.
