Nets' Terance Mann reacts to being traded from the Hawks

Brooklyn Nets forward Terance Mann has had an interesting past couple of seasons as he will be playing for his third team in the past year. Brooklyn traded for Mann during this offseason after he spent half of the 2024-25 season with the Atlanta Hawks following being traded there from the Los Angeles Clippers. Mann has had enough time to reflect on the trade to speak on it.

“It didn’t come as a surprise to me. It’s going to be crazy to play in an environment like that, something new. I’m one of the oldest guys on the team, want to be a leader, show those guys what it takes to win,” Mann said during an interview with Gary Washburn of the Boston Globe (h/t to NetsDaily). Mann made some of his thoughts about the trade known during his time at his annual basketball camp in Lowell, Massachusetts.

“I’ve been with those guys a ton this summer and they’re super hungry, willing to learn basketball,” Mann said when asked about the five players that Brooklyn selected in the 2025 NBA Draft. “It’s going to be fun. I’m excited for the challenge and I feel like I was built for this. I’m in my prime right now and ready to show the world what I’ve really got outside this role I’ve been playing for the last six seasons.”

Mann, 28, came to the Nets from the Hawks along with the 22nd pick in the Draft that later became forward Drake Powell. Over the course of the 2024-25 campaign, Mann averaged 7.7 points, 3.0 rebounds, and 1.8 assists per game while shooting 49.6% from the field and 36.8% from three-point land across 67 games played between the Clippers and Hawks.

Mann comes to Brooklyn as the oldest player on the team, putting him in a position to impart wisdom on the younger players on the team, especially the rookies. Mann can still contribute on the floor as evidenced by his standing as one of the better defensive players on the wing that can stretch the floor at the same time. Mann says that he’s in his prime so it sounds like he’s looking to do more than he has shown to this point.
