New York Giants ranked in bottom third of NFL in watchability

The New York Giants haven’t had a lot going for them over the last several years. Things have been pretty bad, but then Joe Schoen and Brian Daboll came along.

The Giants looked better for one season before falling flat again.

However, there is an aura of hope surrounding the team in 2025, thanks to some new players. They won all three of their preseason games, and Jaxson Dart is definitely the future of the franchise. But those things don’t always mean a team is fun to watch.

To be fair, teams that are fun to watch aren’t always the best teams in the NFL. So, ESPN’s Ben Solak decided to rank all 32 NFL teams by watchability. He looked at things like big plays, close games, star players, and “cool stuff” (fun schemes), and created a list.

The Washington Commanders sit atop that list, but the Giants? They’re in the bottom third.

22. New York GiantsA respectable ranking for the Giants! When Russell Wilson is taking more late-career dropbacks in hopes that his early-career athleticism will suddenly return, I’ll be tuned in elsewhere. But they get the rookie quarterback bump if and when Jaxson Dart gets on the field and a star player bump with Malik Nabers (though much of his production unfortunately comes in the form of speed outs and curls that aren’t as fun to watch). The most entertaining part of this franchise will be the defense, specifically the pass rush. I will be glued to my seat in Week 1 when Abdul Carter joins Brian Burns and Kayvon Thibodeaux for his first third-and-long opportunity. If that group is all we hope it will be, I’ll be in the same seat for all subsequent weeks.

Russell Wilson may surprise everyone this season, as there is a fresh air of confidence around him. He fits in with this team very well; the entire locker room appears to be on the same page, and he may yet have another Super Bowl run in him.

Also, if he’s not what we think he will be, Dart was quite fun to watch during the preseason. Watching him throw bombs to Malik Nabers sounds pretty entertaining, if we’re being honest.

The defense, though, that is where Solak is right. This defense has huge potential for big plays and creating exciting turnovers. If they meld together the right way, we could be looking at another Osi Umenyiora/Jason Pierre-Paul type of defense.

Pair that with an offense that actually functions, and the Giants may be more fun to watch this season than people think.
