Report: Warriors agree to deal with former Jazz guard Taevion Kinsey

After a quiet summer, the Golden State Warriors organization has finally made a move to bring in a new player this offseason. However, it looks like the addition could be slated for their G League squad instead of their NBA roster.

According to Michael Scotto of USA Today’s Hoops Hype, the Warriors have agreed to a deal with 25-year-old wing Taevion Kinsey.

The G League Santa Cruz Warriors later they’ve acquired the rights to Kinsey in a three-team trade with the Salt Lake City Stars and College Park Skyhawks.

After five seasons at Marshall, Kinsey went undrafted in the 2023 draft before joining the Jazz’s Summer League team. In 2024, Kinsey signed a 10-day contract with the Jazz, but never played in a game with Utah. Kinsey later signed a two-way contract with the Jazz, but was later waived.

During his time at Marshall, Kinsey became the program’s all-time leading scorer, notching 2641 points for the Herd over his career.

In the 2022-23 season, Kinsey averaged 22.1 points on 54.2% shooting from the field and 40.4% shooting from beyond the arc on the way to being named the Sun Belt’s Player of the Year.

In 34 games in the G League last season, Kinsey averaged 24 points on 51.9% shooting from the field and 33% from beyond the arc to go along with 3.9 rebounds and 2.8 assists in 34.8 minutes per game with the Salt Lake City Stars.
