Apr. 15—MIDDLE POINT — It might be a new year, but not a lot has changed for Lincolnview, a team that looks strong again at the outset of the high school baseball season.
The Lancers earned a gritty 3-1 victory over rival Crestview last Thursday in their Northwest Conference opener and have since picked up wins over Perry and Marion Local.
Against Crestview, Lincolnview leaned on Chayse Overholt, the staff’s ace, for a complete-game two-hitter, where the junior allowed just one unearned run and struck out 10 batters.
At the plate, Overholt helped out his own cause with a pair of hits, including a run-scoring single and two runs scored, including the go-ahead run in the third inning on a single by Carter Stevens.
Holden Price added an RBI double in the fifth inning and Overholt closed the game down by striking out each of the last four hitters.
Heading into Tuesday night, Lincolnview is 6-1 on the season.
