Steelers sign 2, release 2 ahead of first preseason game

On Thursday, the Pittsburgh Steelers announced a handful of moves just days ahead of the team’s first preseason game. The Steelers are preparing to take on the Jacksonville Jaguars on Saturday. The team announced they had signed quarterback Logan Woodside and guard Andrus Peat.

To make room on the roster, the Steelers waived longsnapper Tucker Addington and guard Nick Broeker.

Woodside was added to replace Will Howard for the remainder of the preseason. Howard broke a bone in his hand at training camp practice and is expected to miss all of the preseason and training camp. Howard could still make the 53-man roster assuming the will be available for the start of the regular season.

Peat brings a wealth of experience to the offensive line. He’s heading into his 11th NFL season. He’s got 103 career starts in 126 games but only started one game for the Las Vegas Raiders in 2024. Peat was taken by the New Orleans Saints No. 13 overall in the 2015 NFL draft.
