Brent Urban and Michael Pierce are good friends, and the recently re-signed defensive tackle will honor his former Ravens teammate by wearing jersey No. 58 for Baltimore this season.
With Michael Pierce retiring, Urban joins Ravens mainstays Nnamdi Madubuike, Travis Jones, Broderick Washington, incoming veteran John Jenkins, and rookie Aeneas Peebles.
Brent Urban is listed as No. 58 on Ravens roster. Yes, that’s the number of Urban’s longtime Baltimore teammate and close friend Michael Pierce, who retired this offseason.

Selected by Baltimore in the fourth round of the 2014 NFL draft, Urban will enter Year 12 in the league looking to help bolster one of the league’s top defensive line groups. Urban played in 13 games last season and made 20 tackles. He helped the Ravens rank as the NFL’s top run defense.
Back in March, Pierce announced his retirement after eight seasons in the NFL, including seven with the Ravens.
After going undrafted in 2018, Pierce developed into a solid run-stuffing defensive tackle, totaling 238 tackles over 59 career starts.
In his seven seasons with the Ravens, the Baltimore defense finished in the top five against the run five times and was the No. 1 ranked run-stopping team last season.
Pierce’s most significant and memorable play happened in his final season. He dropped into coverage and picked off quarterback Bailey Zappe with Baltimore up 35-10 over Cleveland. He immediately dropped to the ground, looking to avoid any viral moments, as the 355 nose tackle became the heaviest NFL player to make an interception in the last 25 years, according to ESPN Research.
