Before you ask, no the Steelers aren't trading for Micah Parsons

The big news out of the NFL on Friday was that Dallas Cowboysedge defender Micah Parsons is demanding a trade after his agents and the Cowboys couldn’t come to any sort of agreement on a new contract. This puts one of the three or four best edge defenders in the entire NFL on the market to a team that is willing to pay up.

Whenever a player hits the trading block and they are a top-tier guy, Pittsburgh Steelers fans are already calling for General Manager Omar Khan to make the trade.

How about no?

This is no dig on Parsons as a player. But you aren’t thinking clearly if you see a path where Parsons could come to the Steelers. But in that hypothetical, if Parsons was traded to the Steelers, what happens next? Do you bench Alex Highsmith, whom you gave a huge contract to two years ago? Or do you play him inside and bench Patrick Queen, whom you gave a huge contract to last offseason?

If the Steelers are really in the mood to make a mid-training camp trade, the player to target is Washington Commanders wide receiver Terry McLaurin, not Parsons. There’s a starting spot just waiting for McLaurin, unchallenged.
