Chargers HC Announces Star-Studded Hall of Fame Game Lineup originally appeared on Athlon Sports.
For the first time in what has felt like an eternity, NFL football is back in full effect. The Los Angeles Chargers are set to face off with the Detroit Lions in the league’s annual Hall of Fame Game, an event that kicks off Hall of Fame Enshrinement Week events.
It is a game that doesn’t count towards either team’s preseason record, so of course, neither of the teams’ anticipated week one starters will participate. However, there are still some intriguing names and faces that fans should look out for.
The Chargers have announced a few players who will be starting on Thursday night and it’s safe to say the lineup will be star-studded.
Los Angeles head coach Jim Harbaugh announced that the team’s first and second-round picks, Omarion Hampton and Tre Harris, will both suit up for the contest.

Hampton is an electric running back from UNC who feels destined to take over as the clear starter at some point during the regular season.
The Chargers signed former Pittsburgh Steeler Najee Harris this offseason to replace J.K. Dobbins, but Hampton is way too talented to split carries forever.
Harris doesn’t have the same level of competition at his position, so he will likely be heavy in the fold of the offense very early on.
Harbaugh also told reporters that newly acquired quarterback Trey Lance will get the start under center as he looks to find his footing in the NFL. Once the No. 3 overall pick in the 2021 draft, Lance has only started a handful of games in the pros, so he will be using this opportunity to showcase what he can do.
He’ll never supplant Justin Herbert as the starter in Los Angeles, but with an impressive outing in the Hall of Fame Game, he could draw interest from a team in need of a quarterback.
