Walter Nolan injury: Rookie Cardinals DL gives update to injured calf

The Arizona Cardinals‘ first-round pick, defensive lineman Walter Nolen III, has not practiced yet in training camp. He can’t, having been placed on the PUP (physically unable to perform) list with a calf injury he suffered while training with the team.

He gave a bit of an injury update on the team’s day off on Wednesday to the Arizona Republic when he was part of a back-to-school giveaway the team put on at Maryvale High School.

“I feel pretty good,” Nolen said, adding later, “Everything’s been progressing well.”

He suffered the calf injury while working out the week before training camp. Reports are that the No. 16 pick in the 2025 draft will miss almost all or all of training camp, and his return could be “right up against the start of the season.”

He did not give any sort of timetable.

If not cleared before the end of the preseason, Nolan can be placed on the regular-season PUP reserve, which would mean hie would miss at least the first four games of the season.
