Nation’s No. 1 Recruit in 2027 Class Discusses Relationship With Texas originally appeared on Athlon Sports.
The Texas Longhorns are building a solid relationship with the No. 1 overall player in the 2027 recruiting class.
Five-star offensive tackle Kennedy Brown recently spoke with On3 and discussed the top contenders in his recruitment. Texas, Oregon, Clemson, Texas A&M, SMU, Georgia, and Penn State were each mentioned.
Brown has visited the Longhorns a handful of times thus far and mentioned player development and the coaching staff when praising Texas. “Their team is truly great,” he said. “Coach Flood is very down-to-earth. He’ll chew you out, but he gets you to where you want to be. He’s not gonna over-complicate things. Coach (Derron) Gatewood will talk to me about everything — from drills to giving advice. Coach Sark has been FaceTiming me, talking about the season, I love it.”
Texas has produced 23 NFL Draft picks over the last two years, the most of any college program. That’s a key component that seems to be attracting the nation’s top recruits to Austin.
“They produce to the NFL and they’ve shown that,” Brown said. “Every time I see it, that attracts me more to Texas. They’ve been consistent and I like it.”

Brown attends Kingwood High School in Humble, Texas, and could be looking to stay close to home. The 6-foot-4 offensive tackle was named to the Navy All-American Bowl roster and the Polynesian Bowl roster recently and will be coveted by nearly every major college football program in the country.
Texas will hope to continue strengthening the relationship over the next year.
