Former Washington Wizards star and three-time NBA All-Star Gilbert Arenas was arrested Wednesday on suspicion of running an illegal high-stakes poker game out of his mansion, the U.S. Attorney’s Office revealed.
Arenas, 43, was hit with three charges following the arrest. He was given “one count of conspiracy to operate an illegal gambling business, one count of operating an illegal gambling business, and one count of making false statements to federal investigators,” per the U.S. Attorney’s Office.
He was one of six arrested in connection with the alleged poker game. One of the other men arrested, Yevgeni Gershman, is a “suspected organized-crime figure from Israel,” per the release.
Arenas will appear and be arraigned at the United States District Court in downtown Los Angeles on Wednesday.
