Dodgers' Tanner Scott Provides Promising Injury Update

Dodgers’ Tanner Scott Provides Promising Injury Update originally appeared on Athlon Sports.

When the Los Angeles Dodgers acquired Tanner Scott during the offseason, many thought the move would further break Major League Baseball.

The Dodgers had already proven at that point that they’d be willing to spend money on anybody, and did just that with Scott.

However, Scott, one of the better relievers in Major League Baseball, simply hasn’t been the same caliber of arm during his time in Los Angeles. Scott had posted a 4.14 ERA, which was much worse than the 2.73 ERA he posted with the San Diego Padres in the second half of last season.

Unfortunately, the left-handed reliever went down with an injury to his left elbow.

Scott recently had a diagnosis, which the team stated was elbow inflammation.

Whenever an elbow is involved, it’s always fair to wonder if it’s Tommy John, but it looks like the Dodgers found a way to avoid that at the moment.

According to the LA Times, Scott and others in the Dodgers organization are hopeful that he’ll return sometime in the near future.

“Definitely when it was happening, I had no clue what was going on because I’ve never had an arm issue in my entire career,” said Scott. “It kept getting worse and I’m like, ‘I have no clue what it is.’ But after today, it kind of gave me like a clear head.”

Scott later added that he’ll be shut down from throwing until he feels better, “and then [we ’ll] go from there.”

The injuries have piled up for the Dodgers, but it’s not something the team can control. All they can attempt to do is go out and play their best baseball, and having a healthy Scout should help with that.
