Leeds United have submitted a bid in excess of £26 million for Feyenoord winger Igor Paixao, according to Sky Sports journalist Zinny Boswell.
Leeds want to bolster their attack this summer as they prepare for life back in the Premier League, and the Brazilian has emerged as a concrete transfer target amid the uncertainty surrounding the future of Mateo Joseph.
The Spaniard has refused to turn up to training at the Elland Road club amid interest from Real Betis, and manager Daniel Farke is now eyeing a move for Paixao, who notched 16 goals and 14 assists in 34 Eredivisie games last term, and was named Dutch Footballer of the Year.
Leeds United have made a bid in excess of £26m for Feyenoord winger Igor Paixao. #LUFC were biding their time as Marseille negotiated for the 25yo. #OM were proposing around £26m and this offer from #LUFC is understood to go above that with add-ons. The 25-year-old Brazilian is also on the radar of Arsenal, but it appears Leeds could emerge as favourites to sign him and pip the likes of Marseille to his services.
The Ligue 1 club have been struggling to come to an agreement despite attempting to do a £26m deal with the Dutch club, and the Whites have now come forward with a similar bid, but they are offering more in add-ons.
Paixao can play on both wings and as a number 9, and Farke could do with such an attacker having told Patrick Bamford to look for another club, and signing the Feyenoord star will be huge for their Premier League ambitions next season.
He also scored two goals and assisted another five in 11 Champions League appearances last term, and he has what it takes to improve the Leeds attack.
A move to the Premier League could appeal to Paixao as it would boost his chances of earning a call-up to the national team if he impresses, and the Whites will hope their bid is enough to convince the Dutch club.
The West Yorkshire club have signed Lukas Nmecha, Sebastiaan Bornauw, Jaka Bijol, Gabriel Gudmundsson, Sean Longstaff and Anton Stach so far this summer, but more arrivals are expected as they make much-needed changes to their squad ahead of the 2025-26 Premier League campaign, and Paixao could be next.
