According to an announcement by the organization Tuesday, former Alabama Crimson Tide outfielder Tyler Gentry has been designated for assignment by the Kansas City Royals.
The outfielder was part of the corresponding move that also included Kansas City calling up veteran left-handed pitcher Rich Hill.
Gentry, a former third round pick by Kansas City from the 2020 MLB draft out of Alabama, has spent the majority of 2025 in the minor leagues of the Royals organization, doing so in Triple-A Omaha. With the Storm Chasers, Gentry has slashed .205/.277/.365 across 65 games with five home runs, 24 RBI, and three stolen bases.
The former Alabama outfielder has also appeared in three games with the Royals in the major leagues this season, but went 0-for-5 with two strikeouts in limited action.
