Bemidji State adds Jess Strack as 3rd assistant coach

Jul. 22—BEMIDJI — The Bemidji State women’s hockey team has added a third assistant coach.

Beavers head coach Amber Fkryklund announced in a release on Tuesday that Jess Strack will be joining BSU women’s hockey ahead of the 2025-26 season. She replaces Alexis Joyce and joins other assistants Emma Sobieck and Sarah Bobrowski on staff.

Strack most recently served as an assistant coach and goaltender coach at Merrimack.. She is also the director of hockey operations of Stop It Goaltending, working under Boston goaltending coach Brian Daccord.

Strack will work specifically with the Beavers’ goaltenders while also assisting with hockey operations and recruiting.

Strack earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting and Finance from Franklin Pierce, where she graduated with Magna Cum Laude honors and backstopped the women’s hockey program from 2016 to 2020.

During her time with the program, Strack was part of its transition from Division III to D-I and was a co-captain in 2019-20. While at Franklin Pierce, she was a two-time AHCA All-American Scholar and appeared in 20 games throughout her four-year career. She posted a 9-3-0 career record, including a 5-0-0 record in her senior season.

Following her collegiate career, Strack competed in the Elite Women’s Summer Hockey League in 2020 and later played professionally with the Connecticut Whale of the former Premier Hockey Federation from 2021-23. She then served as a practice goalie for New York of the Professional Women’s Hockey League in 2024 before retiring.

Strack has also served as an Evaluator at Massachusetts USA Hockey CCM High Performance Festivals, as well as coached at numerous elite goaltending clinics.
