Novak Djokovic’s quest for a 25th Grand Slam hit a roadblock at Wimbledon, where he fell to Jannik Sinner in the semi-finals. The Serbian legend, now 38, acknowledged the increasing challenge posed by younger stars like Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz, who have dominated the Majors recently.

But on Thursday, Djokovic made a personal announcement ahead of the US Open that he’ll be going all black. The 24-time Grand Slam champion is expected to wear a striking midnight black outfit, paired with ASICS’ new Court FF Novak 3 sneakers, when he takes the court in New York.

The US Open is scheduled to run from August 24 to September 7 at Flushing Meadows, and while his pre-Open schedule is still uncertain, Djokovic is registered for the Masters 1000 events in Toronto and Cincinnati.

Given the wear and tear of a long career, he may skip Canada to preserve energy for Ohio and the US Open.

Djokovic’s last Major win came at the 2023 US Open, where he beat Daniil Medvedev in the final. Since then, he has struggled to find the same fire.

“From my opinion, it’s only here,” coach Patrick Mouratoglou said, pointing to his head. “He didn’t lose his tennis. He just realized he would be the best of all time. Suddenly, there is no more goal.”

Mouratoglou added, “He got motivated again just for the Olympics, and then he was a beast at the Olympics.”

Still, Djokovic insists he’s not done. His dream is to play in the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics at age 41. Whether or not he wins another Slam, he’s not going away quietly, especially if he shows up in New York dressed to dominate.
