The Chicago Sky defeated the Minnesota Lynx 87-81 on Saturday inside Wintrust Arena in Chicago.

Chicago’s All-Star forward Angel Reese put up a 19-point and 11-rebound double-double. She made 8 of 14 shots from the field en route to adding her name to the WNBA history books.

Reese became the fastest player in league history to reach 40 career double-doubles and 250 rebounds in a single season. Meanwhile, her teammate Ariel Atkins led the team in scoring with 27 points.

Following the Sky’s seventh triumph of the season, the veteran guard shared her thoughts on how Reese has been working on improving her mid-range shot.

“Let it fly,” Atkins told a reporter on Monday. “If you’re working on something, you’ve got to let it fly. You’re only going to get better at it and build the confidence, doing it in the game.”

Atkins’ comments come as Reese has been slowly adding more mid-range shots to her arsenal of scoring options. However, she has struggled at times and hesitates to shoot.

Her teammate believes that if Reese makes quicker decisions and “trusts her game,” it will help her shot become “solid.” However, Reese has struggled with limiting her turnovers.

During Saturday’s game, she ended with six, but has had others where she only had two or three turnovers. However, her rebounding has remained a strong feature of her game. She is currently averaging 12.8 rebounds per game alongside 13.6 points per game.

Meanwhile, the Sky are heading into their rematch against the Lynx on Monday inside Wintrust Arena. The game is scheduled for 8 p.m. ET.
