No Minnesota Vikings make the top ten at one position in new league wide poll

The Minnesota Vikings are expected to boast a strong defense again in 2025, but that doesn’t mean every individual position group is expected to be among the best in the league.

NFL executives, coaches, and scouts were asked to rank the top 10 safeties in the NFL. No Vikings made the list, as Harrison Smith and Josh Metellus were both left off. Three safeties in the top 10 were from the NFC North, including Brian Branch (2) and Kerby Joseph (5) from the Lions, as well as Xavier McKinney (3) of the Packers.

Smith did receive some votes, although he wasn’t among the five honorable mentions. Metellus didn’t receive any votes, although his versatility makes him an untraditional safety, making it difficult to include him on lists like this. Smith was PFF’s 24th-highest graded safety last year among qualified players, intercepting three passes despite being 36 years old.

One other notable inclusion for Vikings fans on the list was Ravens safety Kyle Hamilton, who is brought up every time Lewis Cine’s name is mentioned. But the Vikings are expecting fourth-year safety Theo Jackson, another member of the 2022 draft, to replace Cam Bynum this year.
