Fights during the game
After the opener from Cole Palmer in the first half, there were brawls between players like Achraf Hakimi and Enzo Fernandez. Moises Caicedo and Nuno Mendes were also trading tackles and intensity in the game.
The final meant a lot to both teams as Chelsea players fought for every ball while PSG players kept pushing to recover from a three-goal deficit. Chelsea players were celebrating as soon as the final whistle blew, but some appeared to do it right in front of PSG players.
PSG players quickly approached Chelsea players who celebrated near them. Hakimi was near Pedro after the game, which could have been misinterpreted by Luis Enrique as the Brazilian striker taunting Hakimi.
Marc Cucurella was key in frustrating PSG players, and his hair was pulled by João Neves, who received a red card.
Chelsea 3-0 PSG
Chelsea surprised PSG with intensity at the start of the game, and they took advantage of the momentum. In the 22nd minute, Cole Palmer opened the score with a great finish outside of the box past Donnarumma.
In the 30th minute, Palmer similarly scored his second goal as the first. After a fake pass out wide, Palmer created space in front of him and finished at the same bottom corner.
Just before halftime, Palmer provided a perfect assist in between two PSG defenders to find João Pedro. The Brazilian striker chipped Donnarumma to make it 3-0 for Chelsea at halftime.
The second half saw PSG take more control of the ball and start to create more dangerous chances. Chelsea were close to a fourth after two shots on target from Liam Delap. PSG couldn’t find a goal, and Chelsea became the first English club to win the Club World Cup twice. They are the first to win this version of the Club World Cup.
