New York Giants star receiver Malik Nabers had one of the best seasons by a rookie receiver in franchise history.
General manager Joe Schoen certainly got himself a star to build around, and it will be exciting to see what Nabers can do in a season without a revolving door at the quarterback position.
Recently, Nabers was named the Giants’ player to root for during the 2025 NFL season by Tom Blair of NFL Media.
I tried to focus on what I’m rooting for when selecting players for this piece, but in making a case for Nabers, I’m flipping the formula. Because what I definitely do not want is for Nabers to become yet another talented receiver whose ultimate ceiling is shrouded by a forgettable quarterback and surrounding cast. It’s great that he made the Pro Bowl and garnered some Offensive Rookie of the Year votes while catching passes from Daniel Jones, Drew Lock, Tommy DeVito and Tim Boyle last year. Next, let’s get him into some meaningful late-season or playoff games. Whatever the Giants decide to do between Russell Wilson, Jameis Winston and Jaxson Dart at quarterback, I just hope they’re able to find the quickest possible path to an uptick in high-leverage targets for Nabers.
Nabers may exceed expectations in his sophomore season with the upgrades in the quarterback room. A healthy offensive line will also go a long way for both Nabers and the rest of the Giants’ offense.
Topping his rookie campaign will be difficult, but with the Giants’ schedule being as hard as it is, they may throw a lot if they’re trailing in games. There’s also a chance there is a shift at the quarterback position if the Giants’ record is less than ideal early on.
Nabers’ explosive, big-play ability makes him a must-watch as he goes into his rookie season.
