Dodgers' Dave Roberts Breaks Silence on Play Amid Trade Deadline Approaching

It’s been an ugly past week for the Los Angeles Dodgers, typically the best team in Major League Baseball.

The Dodgers still sit in first place in the National League West, but the squad has now lost six in a row, heading into a series against the San Francisco Giants starting on Friday night.

It’s unfortunate that things have gone the way they have for the Dodgers, but it’s also important to note the many injuries this team has dealt with.

At some point, no matter the surrounding talent, even when injured, it’s likely that teams will fail when they deal with the type of injuries the Dodgers have.

But with the trade deadline approaching, it’s a telling sign of what has to happen. The Dodgers need help.

Despite the struggles from the Dodgers, veteran skipper Dave Roberts wants the team to understand that there’s nothing to worry about.

He’s not happy with their performance, and with the trade deadline approaching, he understands they need to get back to basics and play to their full potential before moves happen.

“I think it is under the ‘it’s just baseball’ type thing,” Roberts said, per the LA Times. “You never like to lose six in a row. It seems like we’re pitching OK. The defense at times has been really good. It’s just that right now we’re scuffling offensively, to have that big inning or to build an inning and get that big hit.”

Over the next few weeks, the Dodgers will have some challenging decisions to make.

It’s unlikely that they’ll go out and make a major move, but it wouldn’t be surprising to see them add an All-Star type of player.

Perhaps not a superstar, but if the Dodgers can make the right moves like they did a year ago with Tommy Edman and some others, that’s often more important than adding that big star for a massive price.
