According to a report Thursday night from ESPN’s Shams Charania, former Alabama Crimson Tide basketball star Herbert Jones has agreed to a multi-year contract extension with the New Orleans Pelicans.

Per the report from Charania, Jones’ extension is for three years, $68 million, and now has a total of five years and $97 million remaining on his deal with the Pelicans. Jones’ contract also reportedly has a player option in 2029-30.

Drafted by New Orleans in the second round of the 2021 NBA draft, Jones is coming off his fourth season with the Pelicans in which he appeared in only 20 games due to injury, each of which he started.

Since entering the league, Jones has appeared in 240 games with New Orleans since the 2021-22 NBA season, 231 of which he has started, to average 10.1 points, 3.8 rebounds, 2.5 assists, and 1.6 steals per game while shooting 47.7% from the field.

Jones has also shot 36.6% from three, as well as 82.4% from the free throw line, and was a 2023-24 First Team All-Defensive selection.
