LONDON (AP) — India wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant didn’t take the field for Day 2 of the third test against England at Lord’s as he recovers from being hit on the index finger on his left hand.
India’s medical team “continues to monitor his progress,” the tourists said in a short statement Friday.
Dhruv Jurel took the gloves for the morning session in place of Pant, who was hurt when a delivery down the leg side from Jasprit Bumrah on Thursday struck the top of the wicketkeeper’s finger as he dived to stop the ball.
Pant received treatment and came off the field, Jurel taking over behind the stumps.
Pant, India’s vice captain, made back-to-back centuries in the first test and a 65 in the second test.
