Chelsea midfielder Mathis Amougou (19) will sign a five-year contract with Strasbourg this Friday, according to L’Equipe. The France U19 international initially joined the Blues from AS Saint-Etienne during the winter transfer window in a €15m deal. The Frenchman remained with the Premier League side until the end of the season and Amougou was expected to depart on loan to BlueCo-owned Strasbourg Alsace in the summer.
Eventually, the midfielder will join the Alsatians in a permanent deal, thus remaining part of the BlueCo portfolio. Chelsea have notably included a buy-back clause in Amougou’s deal. The former Saint-Etienne player is expected to play a major part next season as Strasbourg have parted ways with Chelsea loanee Andrey Santos as well as club captain Habib Diarra, who signed for Sunderland in a club-record €36m deal.
