After a tumultuous rookie season, all eyes are on Los Angeles Lakers guard Bronny James as he heads into Year 2 as a pro.

James, who averaged 2.3 points, 0.8 assists, and 0.7 rebounds per game while playing 6.7 minutes per night across 27 NBA games, split his time between the Lakers and the South Bay Lakers of the G League.

Many expect the 20-year-old to play a bigger role on the Lakers next season, and fans got to catch a glimpse of the improved former second-round pick in action Sunday night in the “California Classic” as part of the NBA Summer League.

Moments into the first quarter against the Miami Heat, James stole the ball from guard Kasparas Jakučionis and sped the other way on a fastbreak before finishing off the impressive play with a one-handed dunk.

The NBA X account tweeted video of the play, which went viral after garnering 5.7 million views.

James was all over social media as fans raved about the viral dunk, and his father, star forward LeBron James, even gave his son a no-word shoutout on social media.

“@bronny 🙌🏾💪🏾,” LeBron posted on his Instagram story.

Fans on social media had some strong reactions to LeBron’s IG story.

“LeBron showing love to Bronny on IG 👑 Greatest teammate of all time 🐐,” one fan wrote.

“Like Father like Son 🐐,” another fan replied.

“Bronny breakout season incoming,” a third fan predicted.

“The LeGenes kicking in slowly but surely,” one user stated.

“Bron tryna recreate himself 😳,” another user commented.

In 11 G League games, Bronny averaged 21.9 points, 5.4 assists, 5.2 rebounds, and 1.9 steals per night. He made serious strides in his development, which were on full display late in the season when he saw some increased minutes during a slew of Lakers injuries.

In a 118-89 loss to the Milwaukee Bucks on March 20, Bronny scored a career-high 17 points along with five assists, three rebounds, and a block in 30 minutes of action.

He shot 70% from the field and 50% from 3-point range, and he put for the kind of performance that won more than a few Lakers fans over.
