Jul. 7—GRAND FORKS, N.D. — A Bemidji elementary schooler came away with a first-place finish in a Drive, Chip and Putt qualifier at King’s Walk Golf Course in Grand Forks, North Dakota, on June 30.
Henry Sea, a rising second grader at J.W. Smith Elementary School, bested the competition last week. He finished with a score of 80, which was 17 more than Eli Eggl in second place. Sea scored a 12 on the drive portion, three on chipping and 65 on putting. Sea had the best putting score by 20 points and the second-best driving score.
The top three in each division qualified for the Sub-Regional in Fargo, North Dakota, on July 30. The winners of the qualifying spots in Fargo will compete at Hazeltine National Golf Club on Oct. 5.
