NBA insider doesn't expect sought after all-defensive Pelican to be traded this offseason

Going into the offseason, it felt like the Pelicans would be open to offers on virtually every player.

They have sought after players on their roster that other teams would love to have.

The Pelicans hired new GM Joe Dumars, who didn’t necessarily have any untouchable players in his mind when he took over.

As time has passed, we now know from recent reports that at least one player is likely to stay put in New Orleans despite his value.

What player will likely stay in New Orleans?

NBA insider Jake Fischer reported that he is “not expecting a Herb Jones trade.”

Jones is one of the valuable wings that teams have been interested in.

As Fischer notes, Jones has “one of the best contracts in the league.”

Jones has two years left on his contract, where he’s set to make $13.94 million and $14.9 million.

He missed most of the 2024-25 NBA season, but just the year before, he made the All-Defensive First Team and was fifth in defensive player of the year voting.

This past season in 20 games, Jones averaged 10.3 PPG, 3.9 RPG, 3.3 APG and 1.9 SPG.
