Freddy Peralta Shares 3-Word Message About Brandon Woodruff’s Return originally appeared on Athlon Sports.
The long-awaited, highly anticipated return of Brandon Woodruff to the Milwaukee Brewers rotation is soon to come to fruition.
Brewers manager Pat Murphy told reporters on Wednesday that it looks like Woodruff will be activated and start the game on Sunday against the Miami Marlins. At that point, it’ll have been 652 days since Woodruff last pitched in the major leagues.
Brewers fans have been looking forward to seeing the longest-tenured player back on the field for the entire season and now it’s finally arrived. One of the other long-tenured Brewers, Freddy Peralta, is feeling the same kind of way as the fans about Woodruff’s triumphant return.
After dicing up the New York Mets for six innings, allowing just two runs, in game one of Wednesday’s doubleheader, Freddy Peralta talked about the biggest news of the day: Woodruff’s return.
“He’s my favorite” Peralta said.
“He’s my favorite…I love him.”

Not only is Brandon Woodruff a fan-favorite in Milwaukee, he’s also Freddy Peralta’s favorite. And how could he not be?
Peralta’s full quote on Woodruff was “I’m happy to see Big Woo coming back. I said before that he’s my favorite and we’re very close, we’re very good friends, I like him and I love him. His family too, he’s very close to my family and I can’t wait to watch him pitch again.”
Woodruff debuted in 2017 and Peralta followed shortly after in 2018. The two of them have helped form a dominant top of the starting rotation in Milwaukee for several years. Since 2021, when Peralta became a permanent starter, Peralta has a 3.41 ERA and Woodruff has a 2.70 ERA.
They have been the faces of the Brewers pitching development success for years and getting them both back on the mound in the same rotation after not having Woodruff for the last year and a half, is a huge win for the Brewers.
Everyone loves them some Brandon Woodruff, and soon we’ll be able to enjoy watching him pitch on the major league mound once again and Freddy Peralta may be the most excited to see his favorite player back on the field.
