The New York Jets hope to hit the ground running under new leadership in 2025.
As fans know too well, things can go south in a hurry.
Regarding the 2025 Jets, what are the top things that could make-or-break their season?
Here are Jets Wire’s top three:
Justin Fields’ play
The NFL is a quarterback league.
The Jets have tied their 2025 season to Justin Fields under center. That’s clear.
What is not is how he will perform. Fields has been up-and-down in his career thus far and there is no guarantee he will prove that he will improve the Jets’ offense.
Sauce Gardner, Garrett Wilson extension talks
There seems to be completely good vibes surrounding these contract talks.
Even so, they still are not done. While cornerback Sauce Gardner and wideout Garrett Wilson are tied to the team through the 2026 season, getting these extensions done before next year could be profitable for the Jets both on and off the field.
A difficult division
While this is out of the Jets’ hands most weeks, it could be a factor.
The AFC East has belonged to the Buffalo Bills the past five seasons. But like New York, the Miami Dolphins and New England Patriots both have high aspirations in 2025.
If one of those two do breakout, and assuming the Bills still produce, that will make the road ahead even more difficult for the Jets
