‘No Worry’ Over Browns’ 2nd-Round Pick’s Lack of Signed Contract originally appeared on Athlon Sports.
The Cleveland Browns are set to find their franchise quarterback this offseason with four options in camp.
The battle between two veterans in Joe Flacco and Kenny Pickett and two rookie draft picks, Dillon Gabriel and Shedeur Sanders, will take center stage this summer and on into training camp and the preseason.
While the quarterbacks are figuring things out, the running backs room is doing the same.
Out is Nick Chubb after seven seasons in Cleveland, and one of the possibilities of a replacement is former Ohio State Buckeyes running back and Browns’ second-round pick, Quinshon Judkins.
While Judkins has participated in all offseason activities thus far, he’s without a signed contract for one reason or the other. And he’s not the only one in the league going through the same situation.
Former NFL safety Tyvis Powell discussed this on the “Ultimate Cleveland Sports Show” recently.
“Must be some language in there that he wants cleared up,” Powell said. “That’s the only thing I can think of because it ain’t negotiating money. That’s Slotted, you can’t negotiate that. Quinshon’s ready to play. He’s out there every day practicing and doing everything he’s supposed to do, even without a contract. At the end of the day, it’s gonna get done. I’m not worried about it.”
With the departure of Chubb, the Browns needed a replacement, and they found one just down the road in Columbus. The combination of Judkins and Jerome Ford could be a potent 1-2 punch in the running game for Cleveland, as long as they can figure out Judkins’ contract situation.
