The Philadelphia 76ers have been taking care of some of their incumbent potential free agents this week.

On Friday morning, it was reported that Philadelphia reserve center Andre Drummond, a former two-time All-Star, had picked up his $5 million player option for the 2025-26 season.

Philadelphia also opted to decline its $2.4 million team option on backup point guard Jared Butler, reports Kyle Neubeck of PHLY Sports.

Butler, obtained along with four second round draft picks as part of the return in the Sixers’ trade of veteran guard Reggie Jackson, will now enter unrestricted free agency.

Philadelphia also has a team option on reserve swingman Lonnie Walker IV that it has until Sunday to either pick up or decline.

Now, the Sixers will reportedly take care of a breakout forward from an otherwise-disappointing 24-58 run in 2024-25.

After declining forward Justin Edwards’ $1.9 million team option for 2025-26, the Philadelphia 76ers are now reportedly re-signing him on a three-year deal, sources inform Shams Charania of ESPN.

Per Charania, two of the three seasons will be guaranteed. Edwards will make $2 million next season, a marginal raise on the team option.

Charania reports that Philadelphia negotiated with Edwards’ Klutch Sports agents, Rich Paul and Josh Hairston.

The 6-foot-6 swingman signed as an undrafted free agent out of Kentucky last summer. He worked his way up from a two-way deal to a standard roster spot after the 2024-25 season’s trade deadline had passed in February.

Edwards appeared in 44 games for the Sixers last season. The 21-year-old averaged 10.1 points on .455/.363/.696 shooting splits, 3.4 boards and 1.6 dimes per bout, across 26.3 minutes.
