2028 Prospect Reveals How 'Dream' USC Offer Surfaced

2028 Prospect Reveals How ‘Dream’ USC Offer Surfaced originally appeared on Athlon Sports.

USC jumped ahead of every college football program in landing 30 verbal commits before the 2025 season. Now they’ve begun to identify 2027 and 2028 talent — including an intriguing safety representing the latter class.

That prospect called USC his “dream” offer. Jalen Flowers of Palos Verdes High got offered early by the Trojans back on June 19. The safety became one of the June participants during one of the summer mega camps held on the USC campus.

Flowers since then opened up about the offer with Chris Trevino of 247Sports Friday. But how did the offer surface and what was the conversation like with the Trojan coaches before Flowers received the offer? He verbally illustrated the moment with Trevino.

“[Coach Doug] Belk came up to me after the camp and said he liked how I looked out there and [that] I definitely have a bright future and he offered,” Flowers said.

He then spoke highly of Belk and new cornerbacks coach Trovon Reed along with other defensive coaches.

“[They are] very good coaches. They are about the details and hold everyone to a standard. It’s more than football; they care about their relationships with players on and off the field,” Flowers said.

USC is among the early offers for the 6-foot-1, 160-pound DB who’s still growing. The Trojans already face Big Ten competition in pursuing Flowers. Washington is among his early offers.

Even two former Pac-12 foes are after Flowers. Arizona and Arizona State, now Big 12 representatives, offered the safety. Texas A&M represents his lone SEC offer. Idaho and UNLV are two more teams that offered him.

Flowers broke up eight passes as a freshman on varsity in 2024. He also picked off one pass and produced 26 tackles.
