WATCH: Lexie Hull’s Slick Pass in Slow-Mo Has Fever Fans Talking originally appeared on Athlon Sports.
Caitlin Clark didn’t play during Thursday’s game against the Los Angeles Sparks due to a groin injury, so the other Indiana Fever guards had to step up and fill the void she left in both scoring and playmaking.
Sydney Colson was thrust into the starting lineup in Clark’s absence, while Kelsey Mitchell and Lexie Hull helped out in leading the offense.
Interestingly, Hull herself had one of the best highlights of the game when she dished out an assist to the returning Aari McDonald late in the third quarter of play.
While the paint was clogged by the Sparks, Hull found some space to send the ball to McDonald for a layup. The Fever were impressed by what the 25-year-old guard did, even sharing a slow-motion video to highlight the difficulty and brilliance of the assist.
“Lexie Hull threads the needle to Aari McDonald who gets the basket & the foul for tonight’s @statefarm Assist of the Game,” the Fever wrote.
Several fans also loved the play and heaped praise on both Lexie Hull and Aari McDonald for the incredible connection they showed.
“Well done Aari and Lexie,” a commenter wrote. Another one said, “It’s so good to see Aari back on the floor with the team!!”
A fan praised Hull, saying, “Lexie is the best Fever player, Shes an all around type of player she okays Def like noone else and she steals the balls and draws the fouls. Shes dam good and amazing.”
“Great chemistry between Lexie and Aari,” an X user added.
A follower shared, “Nice.” A hyped poster further stated, “They DOIN’ IT!!!”
Unfortunately for Hull and the Fever, they were unable to beat the Sparks without Clark in the lineup. Los Angeles won 85-75 behind Kelsey Plum and Azura Stevens’ combined 43 points.
