The Minnesota Vikings have a track record of excelling at the game of NFL roster building and deconstruction. Kwesi Adofo-Mensah has explicitly shown that he can manage the salary cap and NFL Draft extremely well, and in the process has helped the Vikings roster get overhauled much quicker than many could have expected.
One way to do that is by earning compensatory picks, which is something the Vikings have done a lot of in recent years. However, thanks to their departures in 2025, they are poised to receive more than ever in the 2026 NFL Draft.
One way they can earn an even higher selection of the projected nine draft picks they have is if Daniel Jones continues to play as well as he has for the Colts in minicamp and into their training camp. While the Colts will hope their former top pick, Anthony Richardson, pulls things together, Vikings fans need the opposite to happen.
If Jones earns the starting role for the Colts, that should be enough for the Vikings to lock up a fourth-round compensatory pick. A complete turnaround for a team that had just four picks in April’s draft.
