Marcus Rashford will reportedly have the option of continuing plying his trade in the Premier League despite being told he has no future at Manchester United.

Indeed, the forward faces a hugely uncertain summer after his loan spell with Aston Villa ended, with neither party opting to make his move permanent.

Ruben Amorim maintains that he has no interest in making amends with Rashford or having him play a role in the squad ahead of the manager’s first full season in charge.

Alas, Rashford has been made to consider all avenues as to where he could take his exploits next, with one particular club said to be his ‘dream’ move: Barcelona.

Talks have taken place between his agent and Sporting Director Deco, while reports have also suggested they would be keen on signing the attacker even if Nico Williams arrives at the Camp Nou this summer.

The issue from United’s perspective, however, is that Barcelona’s precarious financial situation means they can only acquire Rashford via an initial loan through 2025/2026, after which they’ll look to make it permanent this time next year. INEOS chiefs, on the other hand, are adamant about raising £40 million of pure profit from the academy graduate’s sale.

Newcastle establish surprise Rashford interest

Now, Rashford has been given another option to mull over.

CaughtOffside claims that Newcastle United have emerged as surprise contenders in the mix for the 27-year-old’s signature, to the point they’re already making ‘serious moves’ to add him to Eddie Howe’s ranks.

It comes after the Magpies saw a £45m bid for Anthony Elanga instantly rebuffed by Nottingham Forest earlier this week, so they have now seemingly set their sights on alternative targets.

Newcastle finished 24 points above United last campaign and secured Champions League qualification on the final day thanks to their fifth-placed finish.
