WNBA Reacts to Kamilla Cardoso’s Last Game Before Stepping Away From Chicago Sky originally appeared on Athlon Sports.
The Chicago Sky now own a 4-10 record during the 2025 WNBA season after Tuesday’s 97 to 86 win against the 4-11 Los Angeles Sparks.
With the victory, Chicago snapped a three-game losing streak and moved into sole possession of 10th place in the WNBA standings.
Veteran Azurá Stevens led the way for Los Angeles with 21 points, seven rebounds, four steals and four blocks. Kelsey Plum also chipped in 20 points and five assists for the Sparks in the loss.
For the Sky, second-year center Kamilla Cardoso was the leading scorer with 27 points, and she also grabbed 7 rebounds and dished out three assists.
Cardoso is temporarily leaving the Sky after Tuesday’s game against the Sparks so that she can represent her home country Brazil in the Americup tournament in late June and early July. She is expected to miss the next two games for Chicago.
Her 27 points against Los Angeles were a career-high, and the WNBA reacted on social media to Cardoso’s strong performance before stepping away from the Sky.
“NEW CAREER-HIGH FOR KAMILLA CARDOSO 🚨,” the WNBA wrote. “She’s reached 27 points and still climbing as the Sky have their largest lead in the 4th!”

After landing on the All-Rookie team in 2024, Cardoso is having another strong campaign for the Sky. Before Tuesday’s contest, she was averaging 11.6 points and 6.6 rebounds per game during the 2025 season.
Cardoso will be absent for the next two games against the 7-6 Golden State Valkyries and a rematch against the Sparks. The rest of the Sky will head to San Francisco for a 10:00 p.m. ET tipoff at the Chase Center against the Valkyries on Friday.
