Caitlin Clark Reveals the One Thing She Always Reminds Herself in the WNBA originally appeared on Athlon Sports.
Indiana Fever guard Caitlin Clark has risen to stardom over the past few years, and for good reason. After leading the Iowa Hawkeyes in college to two national championship game appearances, she went on to average 19.2 points, 5.7 rebounds and 8.4 assists per game as a rookie in the WNBA.
Along with the several records she broke, the 2024 No. 1 overall pick won the WNBA Rookie of the Year, was selected as a WNBA All-Star and led the league in assists.
Clark has continued her success into Year 2, entering Tuesday night’s game against the Seattle Storm, averaging 19.8 points, 5.4 rebounds, and 8.9 assists per game.
Prior to tip-off against the Storm, Clark spoke to the media about what it means to play basketball for a living and said she doesn’t take it for granted. In fact, she consistently reminds herself that.
“Well, I mean, I just feel really fortunate,” Clark said. “I mean, for me, at times I can’t really believe this is my job because a lot of people would kill to be able to play a sport or do something that they love every single day, as you know, what they get to do for a living. So I think for myself, just remind myself of that, and the same goes, you know, I try to make as much time as I can for people that show up and come to these games, whether they’re at home or on the road.”
Clark may only be making $78,066 on her WNBA contract this season, but she’s in a position to earn much more through endorsements and other off-court ventures. According to the Times of India, the 6-foot guard has an estimated net worth of around $5 million, and she’s still only 23 years old.
