The Philadelphia 76ers have some needs to address when free agency begins on June 30. They don’t have too much money to play with after the big spending free in 2024 with the additions of Paul George and others so the Sixers have to decide how they’re going to handle things.
The priorities for Philadelphia are to bring back Quentin Grimes and Guerschon Yabusele in free agency. Grimes is restricted so it might be easier for Philadelphia to bring him back, but Yabusele is a bit tougher because he is unrestricted meaning the Sixers won’t have the chance to match any deal he signs like with Grimes.
Per Michael Scotto of HoopsHype, there is one team interested in bringing in Yabusele and that is the San Antonio Spurs:
The San Antonio Spurs are among several teams expected to have interest in Yabusele during free agency, league sources told HoopsHype.
Yabusele played on the French National Team that won a silver medal in the Paris 2024 Olympics with Spurs star Victor Wembanyama.
The Philadelphia 76ers, of course, also have interest in re-signing their forward, league sources told HoopsHype.
The Spurs make a lot of sense due to Yabusele’s relationship with Spurs star Victor Wembanyama. Either way, the Sixers have to bring him back. He averaged 11.0 points, 5.6 rebounds, and 2.1 assists while shooting 38% from deep and playing multiple roles on the floor and in the locker room. He is going to be an integral part of whatever success the Sixers have in the 2025-26 season and beyond.
