Chargers linked to trade for All-Pro cornerback

Dolphins cornerback Jalen Ramsey could be on his way out, as trade buzz has been circulating recently. And should Ramsey be shipped, the Chargers could be potential suitors for him.

Ramsey has expressed a preference for playing on the West Coast, specifically mentioning the Rams and Bolts as teams he would play for, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

Schefter added that a trade may happen before training camp.

The Chargers could benefit from Ramsey’s presence, adding some experience to their young cornerback room, especially after losing Kristian Fulton and Asante Samuel Jr.

Despite being 30, Ramsey continues to play at a high level. He’s earned a 70.0-plus coverage grade in seven of his nine NFL seasons, according to Pro Football Focus. And Ramsey has amassed 25 interceptions and 79 pass breakups on 755 career targets.

Ramsey’s contract is expensive, as he is scheduled to make a fully guaranteed $24.235 million in 2025. But Miami is likely to eat some of it, and their compensation should be low, with a Day 3 pick being what it takes to get him.

Additionally, Derwin James and Ramsey were teammates at Florida State and are still close friends. Ramsey has publicly expressed his desire to play alongside James again in the NFL.
