The Chicago Sky marked a crucial win on Sunday by taking down the Connecticut Sun, 78-66, in a road matchup at Mohegan Sun Arena.

This was the Sky’s first win in four games, and it allowed them to improve to 3-7 on the season.

The victory was thanks in large part to an incredible performance from Angel Reese, who dropped her first career triple-double. The All-Star forward led Chicago to victory with 11 points, 13 rebounds, 11 assists, three steals and two blocks in 36 minutes of action.

Reese spoke to reporters after the game as she opened up about her latest career milestone. The 23-year-old made sure to give credit to head coach Tyler Marsh, who, according to Reese, has inspired her to work on her all-around game.

“(I’m) trying to get back to being super versatile,” Reese said, via Ben Pickman of The Athletic. “And (coach Marsh) made that emphasis early on in the season. And I didn’t understand it, and I really was kinda confused and trying to figure it out. I’m still figuring it out. But I have patience.

“I’m just super excited, and then to add it with a win just feels really good.”

As Reese admitted, Marsh’s message about being versatile initially left her confused. In fact, she still hasn’t fully grasped the message to this day.

Nevertheless, the fact that the former LSU star turned in arguably the best all-around performance in her career speaks volumes about how much work she’s put in behind the scenes.

This also shows how much potential Marsh–who is currently in his first season as the Sky’s head coach–sees in her star forward, as well as how much belief he has in Reese. She deserves a lot of credit, too, for putting her faith in Marsh, despite the confusion.

It appears that things are working out well for Reese and her new coach.
