Former Tennessee baseball player Christian Moore made his MLB debut for the Angels on Friday. He started at second base and hit in Los Angeles’ ninth spot in the batting order.
Moore went 0-for-3, including one strikeout, in a, 2-0, loss against Baltimore at Oriole Park at Camden Yards in Baltimore, Maryland.
He is the tenth former Vol to play in Major League Baseball from the Tony Vitello era.
Vitello’s first season as Tennessee’s head coach was in 2018. Moore joins the following nine other former Vols under the eighth-year head coach who reached MLB: Garrett Crochet, Chase Silseth, Ben Joyce, Andre Lipcius, Trey Lipscomb, Jordan Beck , Seth Halvorsen, Chase Dollander and Blade Tidwell.
The Angels (33-35) will face Baltimore (28-40) for game No. 2 of the series on Saturday. First pitch between the Angels and Orioles is slated for 4:05 p.m. EDT.
