Super Bowl LIX Champion Cam Jurgens continues to be an asset to the Philadelphia Eagles in the offseason. Not only was he part of a killer team that defeated the Kansas City Chiefs for their second-ever Super Bowl win, but he’s proving to be the most cost-effective player in the NFL.
A new study by Fruityking.co.uk revealed the Eagles’ center represents the best value NFL signing, with each win costing the team only $171,547.
The study analyzed NFL player contracts from 2022 and 2023. Researchers then calculated the cost per win by dividing the player’s average annual salary by the number of wins their team achieved since signing. In this breakdown, Jurgens topped the list while edging out younger stars across the league.
New Dallas Cowboys wide receiver (and NFC East rival) George Pickens comes in second at $177,689 per win. Tampa Bay Buccaneers right tackle Luke Goedeke rounds out the top three at $181,735. All three players are still on rookie or early-career deals, making their performance on the field related to their salary a standout factor.
Originally a second-round pick in the 2022 NFL Draft, Jurgens signed a 4-year rookie extension through 2029 worth $68 million. The versatile lineman has played in 44 games so far, starting in more than half of them. He emerged as a dependable presence on the Eagles’ offensive line.
In 2023, Jurgens played a considerable role in keeping the interior line stable after the departure of veteran Isaac Seumalo. Lining up to All-Pro center Jason Kelce, Jurgens became his successor, blending agility, strength, and high football IQ to keep Philadelphia’s offensive front strong.
While star power often comes at a hefty cost, Jurgens exemplifies how smart drafting and player development can have a significant return on investment. His performance during the Super Bowl only further cemented his value, not just in salary, but in long-term potential.
With Kelce gone, Jurgens continues to be an anchor for the offensive line. As Jurgens continues to develop, the Eagles may have landed one of the best long-term offensive line investments in the league.
