Bills’ Joe Brady Details The Why In ‘Everybody Eats’ Mantra originally appeared on Athlon Sports.
The Buffalo Bills’ offense last season was a well-oiled machine that averaged a tick over 30 points per game and made Josh Allen an MVP winner.
A big reason for that was a mantra that offensive coordinator Joe Brady instilled early on in the offseason called “everybody” eats.
With no genuine No. 1 receiver after Stefon Diggs and Gabriel Davis were moved on, it was a chance for others on the roster to step up, and Allen, under the direction of Brady, didn’t force the ball to one player. Instead, whoever was open got the ball.
Now, as the Bills enter the second season with Brady calling plays, the coordinator has detailed the why in his mantra.
“It’s about defining what everyone eats means, and to me, it had nothing to do with production,” Brady said. “It’s all about a selfless mindset, an approach, it’s all about, hey I’m going to take care of my job, and if I do my job everything else will come to me.
“So that’s all that it ever really is about,
and so when guys have success, we want to celebrate each other’s success, that’s what it’s about, not caring about your own [success] and caring about finding ways to win football games.”
The selfless attitude got the Bills to within three points of a Super Bowl appearance, and the hope is that in 2025, the franchise can take that next step and win its first-ever Lombardi trophy.
With all the pieces in place, the Bills are seen as one of the genuine contenders, and Allen, along with Brady, will be tasked with bringing everything together, with the selfless mindset again being key.
It worked last season, so players should again buy into it, and if things go the way many hope, Buffalo might be crowned NFL champs come season’s end.
And the “everybody eats” mantra will be a big reason why.
