Courtney Vandersloot exited Saturday’s Indiana Fever-Chicago Sky game with a knee injury. The 15-year WNBA veteran went down on a drive in the first quarter and immediately cried out in pain while grabbing her right knee. After receiving attention from trainers, she was carried off the floor to the locker room.
The Sky later announced she was out for the rest of the game.
Prayers up for Vandersloot. 🙏 She went down during this drive, looks like non contact knee injury. #WNBApic.twitter.com/NooOR1QT8D

The injury put a major damper on what was supposed to be a marquee event for not just the hosting Sky, but the WNBA overall. Saturday was the first time the Sky were playing at the United Center, home of the Chicago Bulls and Chicago Blackhawks, and there was some speculation the rivalry game could break the WNBA attendance record.
The game fell short of that record due to in-arena construction, and expectations also fell due to the injury of Fever star Caitlin Clark. Still, the game clearly wasn’t hurting for attendees.
Vandersloot is in her first season back with the Sky, having previously played the first 12 seasons of her career in Chicago before two years with the New York Liberty. She claimed the franchise’s all-time scoring title earlier this season — surpassing her wife Allie Quigley in the process — and now the team can only hope she has more points to score this season.
