Jun. 6—VALLEY CITY, N.D. — The Jamestown Post 14 Eagles came out on the wrong side of a no-hitter in a 3-0 loss to the HCV Blue Sox in the first game of the 2025 Mid-Summer Classic on Friday, June 6, at Valley City State University’s Charlie Brown Field.
The Blue Sox’ starter was Chase Haffely who pitched a complete game while striking out 14 hitters and walking two Eagles. The Eagles (1-2) used two pitchers in the game, Cayleb Miller and Shane Martin. Miller went 5.0 innings giving up two earned runs on six hits while walking three and striking out five before he was relieved by Martin who pitched one inning only giving up one walk.
The Blue Sox (3-0) opened the scoring in the third inning when Alexander Dufner scored on an RBI groundout to make it 1-0. The hosts added another one on a groundout in the third to make it 2-0 before an error allowed Dufner to come back around to score and push the lead out to 3-0.
The Eagles are back in action on Saturday, June 7, with the time and opponent still to be determined.
