Dallas Wings star guard Paige Bueckers has been out with a concussion, suffered in the team’s loss to the Sky last week, for the past two games, and will miss Friday night’s game against the Sparks. She did return to practice on Thursday, but was not a full participant. She is expected back on the court soon, though.

Even sidelined, though, Bueckers is still making headlines. On Friday, the Wings announced that Bueckers is being named one of the most powerful women in sports by Adweek.

The team announced on Friday: “Ad Week P Congrats to @paigebueckers1 for being named to @Adweek ‘s 2025 Most Powerful Women in Sports List!”

Bueckers, the No. 1 pick in the WNBA out of UConn, has averaged 14.7 points , and ranked fourth in the league with 6.7 assists per game. She also grabbed 4.5 rebounds and chipped in with 2.0 steals and 1.0 blocks.

She was passed over for the league’s Rookie of the Month award in favor of Washington’s Kiki Iriafen, but is still favored to be Rookie of the Year. Fans were excited for her on Friday.

One fan wrote, “Huge congratulations to @paigebueckers1 on making @Adweek‘s Most Powerful Women in Sports List! She’s truly dominating.”

Three fans all added some version of, “My goat.”

Another added, “this woman for real can move mountains!!!! SO SO DESERVED”

Bueckers has maintained some humility coming into the league, though she knows the pressure is on her.

“Being a great teammate, being a great leader,” Bueckers said earlier this year. Trying to bring as much happiness, positive energy, joy to a new place and set the new foundation of what we wanna look like in the future. That starts now, it starts in the present. It starts every single day. But, like I’ve talked about before, there’s a lot of new in the organization, so to continue to keep growing, keep bonding and keep feeding off everybody.
