Commanders QB Jayden Daniels has the perfect answer about rising popularity

Fame is something many young professional athletes, or famous people in general, sometimes struggle with. Whether it’s too much money or too much attention too soon, having the right people around you is important. The Washington Commanders have no such concerns with quarterback Jayden Daniels.

Sophomore slumps are a popular topic for opposing fans and analysts. It almost seems impossible for Daniels to be even better in 2025 than he was as a rookie last season. Daniels is unfazed. So are the Commanders. Daniels takes care of everything on and off the field to be better, earning praise from his coaches about his “all-football” mentality all the time.

As impressive as Daniels is on the field, he’s equally as impressive off the field. It would be natural for a young star like Daniels to take every endorsement opportunity and enjoy the fame of being a successful young athlete. That’s just not his style.

“I’ve never been the type of individual that I could say looks for fame,” Daniels said this week. “I am a very introverted individual, so I just go out there and live my life how I live it. I don’t really go to too many places, or I didn’t before that, so that isn’t going to change for me either.”

That’s the perfect answer. And Daniels isn’t just saying it for the cameras. Coaches praise Daniels for his commitment to his craft, his work ethic and leadership. Daniels’ teammates — young and older — love him.

For the first time in a long time, Washington didn’t need to worry about the quarterback position this offseason and shouldn’t for years to come.
