Would the Boston Celtics consider trading Jaylen Brown?

In an offseason that is expected to have plenty of chaos around the NBA, the Boston Celtics will be faced with several decisions to make, and one hypothetical includes trading away superstar Jaylen Brown. Facing the likelihood that they will be without Jayson Tatum for most of, if not all, of the 2025-26 season, the Celtics could look to trade one of their most valuable assets to rebuild the roster as they await the return of Tatum.

Trading Jaylen Brown feels as if it would be the most extreme decision the Celtics’ front office could make this offseason, and would signal a change in direction for the franchise. While it all feels unlikely to happen, the question is not only would the Celtics consider it, but what a possible return would look like for the team.

Watch the video above to see the ‘WEEI Afternoons’ radio crew discuss the idea of the Celtics potentially trading Jaylen Brown. The easiest argument against it would be that with Tatum out for a long time, it provides an opportunity for Brown to takeover as the face of the franchise, and in turn the front office will have to put together a supporting cast around him to keep them as a contender in the Eastern conference.
