As everybody soaked in the moment, it shouldn’t be a shocker to hear ESPN’s Lisa Salters announce Shai Gilgeous-Alexander as the 2025 Western Conference Finals MVP. Add that to the filled-to-the-brim trophy case.

The Oklahoma City Thunder took no risk as they dominated the Minnesota Timberwolves in a 124-94 Game 5 win to punch their ticket to the NBA Finals. Gilgeous-Alexander led the way with an efficient 34 points in 34 minutes.

Gilgeous-Alexander was the best player in the entire series. He averaged 31.4 points on 45.7% shooting, 8.2 assists and 5.2 rebounds. He received all nine media votes for the trophy.

The Thunder will get a week to enjoy their accomplishment. They’ve been the best team in the NBA all year and their dominance has translated in the playoffs. They now await the 2025 NBA Finals to kick off on Thursday, June 5, against either the Indiana Pacers or New York Knicks.
